Q - for those that used a PSX controller for a CP
« on: August 28, 2003, 12:23:25 pm »
Those people that used a PSX controller for the controller panel, Do you guys play MAME? If so, what convertor do you use? I havent found any decent adapters that don't give off any controller lag when i play MAME online (using the Kaillera client),

You are mistaking the controller behavior with kaillera behavior.  Kaillera is causing the lag, not the controller.

That how it is online...dont blame the controller. :D
There is no way to fix it.You can create your own server then you will be playing on 0MS ping and there will no lag on your side.

Building a kaillera server is easy and quick... Once you get it done..you should have no problem playing in your own hub without having to deal with Lagging(Depends on who you playing)...

First of all..duh, you need the Kaillera software..

Download it here, They have different versions:

Kaillera server v0.86 (Windows binary) (21kb).
http://www.nullsoft.com/free/kaillera/kaillerasrv-0.86-win32.zip

Once you have it download / unpacked(Extract), you should have 3 Files:

-kaillerasrv: APPLICATION
-kaillerasrv: CONFIGURATION
-kaillerasrv: UPDATES OF THE SOFTWARE

The Update file should be ignore, its very unneccessary to view...

First..Open the CONFIGURATION file:

Fill in the information you wish to customize your hub..I place them in Bold which are part of the entire customization.
Kaillera Configuration wrote:
; Kaillera server config file

; ServerName can be up to 64 characters long.
;ServerName=Unknown serv0r <--Rename that title to the server name of your own choice !
; Location can be up to 64 characters long.
Location=Unknown location <--Rename that to the following location you live in.
;URL can be up to 128 characters long. (ex: http://www.mysite.com/)
URL= ? <--Server URL

MaxUsers=10 <--User limit to the MAX amount (10=Default, You can Rename to the amount of users you like)
Port=27888

; Set Public to 0 if you want to run the server on a private LAN
Public=1 <--Instructions stated above

; Use this parameter if you want to manually specify your server's
; IP address or leave blank for automatic
; (ex: IP=154.253.21.56)
IP=? <--Instructions stated above

; Messages flood protection
; FloodMsgNb is the max. number of times a same message has to
; be received in FloodMsgTime seconds.
FloodMsgNb=5
FloodMsgTime=3

; Minimum ping restriction (in ms)
; 0=disabled
MinPing=0 <-- Ping restriction setup, 0= disabled / limitless

; Maximum connection setting restriction
; 0=disabled, 1=Bad, 2=Low, 3=Average, 4=Good, 5=Excellant, 6=LAN
MaxConnSet=0 <--MAX connection criteria

; Message of the Day
; Note that you can stack "MotdLine" options
;MotdLine=Welcome to unknown serv0r! Bold: Advertisement
;MotdLine=see our website at http://web.site/

; AllowWebAccess (1=yes,0=no)
AllowWebAccess=1

; End of Kaillera server config file

After you finish the setups..You should " Save " all the customizations.

Next, Open the Kaillera APPLICATION..
As the Database scan through all the settings...once you see the notice " MASTER SERVER TOUCHED ", that means, your server has been activate and listed in the server list... Now..leave it open if you were to use it or host it..
and get into the Kaillera..

You will eventually see your Server on the top tier list, and the ping should be " 0 ", after logging in...

REMEMBER,can't create your own server if you are on router.
Disable firewall.
AND,dont bother if you are on 56k.not playable. :p
