I had been saving a 29" Hitachi dual-voltage multi-system "power-on to last state" television for about 4 years. It took forever to find, and when I finally found it, I scooped it up and have been saving it to de-case and put it into the cabinet I am building. So this morning I decided to build the cpu, and try out the monitor, it worked great, for about 4 hours, then it made a crackling sound, then static, and weird colors, then a a lightning bolt effect down the middle, then a REALLY bright dot in the center, then nothing. The power light just throbs, no picture, a slight crackle sound can be heard.
My question, is it dead, I'm mean, like non fixable dead? Has anyone seen this before?
What are my options now, I'm in Germany, and I have no idea where to get a real 29" arcade monitor here, and it's not like you can go out and buy a 29" CRT anymore?
Can anybody post links, and maybe prices to a trusted distributor that sells 29" VGA arcade CRT monitors that can ship to Germany?
I have been collecting the pieces needed to finally build it, and then this. I now have everything but the screen, and don't know where to go from here.
