I cant seem to find any place that sells 1/2" inch t-molding in red in reasonable quantities. I know Outwater sell it but I would have to bu a 250' roll, when I only need like 40'. I Have tried searching the forum but I keep getting an error msg. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

t-molding.com has it in 5/8".
http://www.t-molding.com/store/product.php?productid=40&cat=17&page=1
maybe then you can trim it. there is a thread on that somewhere here.

Yeah, I tried searching "t-molding" one day, and it repeatedly gave me an error... doesn't like the dash i guess. "t molding" worked but brought up every instance of the letter T... so pretty much every post ever written.

would cutting down 3/4" t-molding to fit on 1/2" MDF be incredibly ugly.

I'm not so sure that would look to good. You can always try it on some scrap. It seems to me that you'd be better off using 5/8", which limits your colors.
Remember t-molding that has mylar tape, such as chrome, will not take to trimming.
