no sound in MAME Space Invaders?

I'm guessing this is because the sounds can't be emulated, but is there a workaround for no sound in Space Invaders on MAME?  

I never played this in the arcade, all of my SI background was with the Atari 2600.

I have a MAME32 that I'm running and don't have no sound.  :(

Tried my MAMEUI64 latest release and space invaders has sound.
