WTB: Dynamo HS-5 speaker (original, working)
« on: April 28, 2011, 03:36:06 pm »
Looking for an original Dynamo speaker from an HS-5 (or any model, if they definitely used the same speaker in all of them). I believe it's 4 inches & 8 ohms. The grill & screws would be nice too, if you have. If you have pics, that would be superb. Trying to match it to the one in my cab already, so I can wire it in stereo. :)

Thanks for looking!!

I recently parted with a 19" Dynamo cut corner cab, and snagged the speaker out of it before I did (should have thought about this when I replied to your other thread). I'm at work right now, but I'll take some pics of it tomorrow for you.

Well, the speaker has been sitting in my garage for a couple months and somewhere along the line it got damaged. Sorry I couldn't help you out.

It's cool man, thanks for trying. Did it look like mine (that I put the pics up for) in the other thread?

It is similar, but not exact. It has a smaller magnet.

You can see the dent in the center of the speaker. Don't know if it has an effect on the sound or not, I haven't tested it.

And for your future reference, here is a sheilded speaker.

Aww dude, screw that dent! I bet it's fine. :)

I'm sending brainhugz your way for all the photos and details.

Well if you want it I'll test it for you this weekend and if it works just pay for the shipping. I'll throw in the grille if you want that too.

I'm sure it works (if it worked before it got poked) but yeah you're my hero. ;) You even kept the grill! It has the 2 screw holes, just like mine.

They look pretty darn similar (but not the same, as you said):

I'm assuming that the monitor of the cab you pulled it out of didn't die of a horrible Rainbow Brite magnetic death?

The monitor is practically brand new, someone did a lot of work to the cab before it reached my hands, the speaker might not have even been original to the cab. But if you take a look at the sheilded speaker, that magnet is HUGE compared to the other (and even yours). I think the magnets on these are small enough and mounted far away enough that they won't affect the monitor. I'll test it out tomorrow morning and let you know what happens.
