Jstick vs JLW UM-8?
« on: April 26, 2011, 08:54:19 pm »
Quick question for anyone with a J-stick - whats actually on the screws that makes it able to be changed one handed?  Want to modify one of my JLW's to do the same thing.  It LOOKS just like a nylon washer, but wasn't sure.

It also has a spring between the washer and the head of the screw.  If you didn't already have the base stick, I'd say just get the J stick from Ultimark.  You'd probably spend less than experimenting with what washers, springs and maybe longer screws to use.  But good luck in your quest.

With shipping and all, it would have cost me too much more to order just the joys from Ultimarc and the buttons/other items from another store...so...went with the JLW's.  I've looked at them a bit more and I'm fairly certain I know what the setup is and can do it myself.  Just would like some feedback from someone that has a Jstick to see what is needed to facilitate the switching.
