Joypad adapters have been available for some time now for a range of systems, but then of course you also need to source a decent working pad to plug into it. I imagine these ready-converted pads are refurbished or very close copies newly manufactured so that's a plus for longevity.

Also, from a Jap, English or PAL point of view, I hated what they did with the American SNES, what with that horrible old-fashioned 'blocky' console design and abolishing the joypad colours for those buttons that looked like Parma Violets:
