Mame*Bert Cabinet Theme???
« on: August 27, 2003, 09:29:57 pm »
I'm currently working on my cabinet design, am converting an older 25" cabinet.  Was thinking about giving the new Mame cabinet a Q*bert theme, since it's a favorite of the wife and myself.  Took a shot at making a marquee, thought of calling it Mame*Bert, (Ryan is my future son's name, he's due here real soon).  Was thinking of painting the sides of the cabinet the Q*bert orangish color and the front and control panel bottom black.  For the control panel was thinking of painting it the same orangish color or black, then laying down some Q-bert cubes along the bottom and maybe a couple characters (not sure on it yet), then overlaying it with lexan.  The control panel design layout below is what I am going with, if anybody has any thoughts on the artwork.

How come one of the joysticks has a mounting plate, and the other doesn't? Is the mounting plate so you can use Oscar's diagonal q*Bert restrictor?

Also, a bunch of Q*Bert sideart was recently unloaded on ebay, I imagine you could probably get some pretty cheap.

Yes, I ordered the Oscar restrictor plates and the 4-way and Diagnol restrictor plates for player 1 only.  Didn't think I needed to bother with them for the second player.  Thanks, I'm keeping my eye on that Ebay auction too, that would look real nice on the side, especially since it is only a characters and doesn't actually says Q*bert.

Darn it, why did I have to go checking ebay for sideart, before I knew it I had hit the buy it now button for some NOS X-Men sideart. Oh, well, more stuff for the gameroom wall.
