Hyperspin and hot swappable control panels

Im thinking about building a cab with Hyperspin and hot swappable control panels but I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this. The issue would be how to wire up each control panel and have the same settings as hyperspin would have. Lets say if i had an all button panel (Astroids) should i just wire those buttons to where ever Hyperspin settings would be. Also can i switch panels while Hyperspin is still running, because i just want the cab to boot into Hyperspin no windows boot up and also have it exit to turn off. Any thoughts or otherways around this issue

Hyperspin has separate tabs for configuring keyboards, joys, whatever. Just make the mappings consistent between control panels. Hot swapping USB devices wont bother HS in the least, in my experience thus far...

Do you have hot swap control panels if so how do you switch in between games. Do you swap inside the main menu of HS or inside the game after it has been selected

I've run into this on my config; I have 5 hot swap panels and I had issues when trying to switch in between games while in the Front End. (I use AtomicFE) At first I had to exit out of the FE, swap the panel and get back in. Not a big deal, but I wanted to make it more seamless.

What I ended up doing was mounting all the interfaces in the cab, instead of on each control panel. (Also reduced the number of interfaces I needed!) Then, I just put two female DB25 cables on them. Each panel now just has male DB25 cables. Just make sure to map out what is player 1, 2, etc controls and make sure to connect them properly to where they will match up on the interface.

Just making the mappings consistent will most likely not work for you, as when you remove and add USB devices while in the program, it doesn't update, even though Windows can handle it. However, since I don't use HS, it might work for you.

Like others have said if you map the controls swappable control panels will work just fine.  The issue you may run into is if you use USB.  Windows likes to change the ID of USB devices.  I think if you plug them into the same USB port each and every time then Windows may keep the same ID, but if you plug it into a different USB port the ID changes and will screw up all your mappings.  I don't think there is a way to force Windows to keep the same ID for USB devices.  Using DB cables like Havok mentions below would keep the USB ID's from changing.
