Tron/DOT joystick question

Did Discs of Tron and Tron both use the same restrictor in the joystick? Or does DOT use the standard restrictor that would be in the trigger joystick that Happ still sells currently?

DoT isn't restricted at all. Its just an analog stick (8 way). You need 2 buttons on the stick though. A trigger and a button on the back. Do you have a push/pull spinner? If not, you need more buttons on the joystick to do the up/down functions for DoT.

That makes no sense.  An 8-way is very different than an analog stick.  According to klov, both DoT and Tron use an 8-way trigger stick.

I meant I use an analog flightstick and it feels great with DoT. Its much smoother. I don't think Happ sells an 8 way trigger flightstick anymore. I think they are all analog. EDIT: they do make one still http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/50997000.htm trigger and single fire button is just like DoT.

Yep, Tron had one button and DoT had 2.

just clarify Tron has a trigger button and DOT has a trigger button and one thumb button
Tron is an 8-way with a special restrictor (to make it difficult to hit the diagonals) available from Encryptor and I believe that DOT uses a standard 8-way (square) restrictor

Also Tron uses a regular spinner and DOT uses a Push/Pull spinner

The DOT stick is also angled forward maybe 20 degrees or so.

I do have a push/pull spinner for this project. Thanks for the replies everyone, I can now move forward with making my control panel for DOT in my MAME cabinet.
