PSX help
« on: April 05, 2011, 02:40:34 am »
I'm still very new to the world of emulation and have a few Q's...

I've managed to install a playstation emulator and found some roms.
The roms them selves are zipped xxxx.cue file and xxxx.disc image file.
What are the file types supposed to be? bin? iso?
I'm guessing I have to convert them to get them to play.
How do I do this?

Thanks

you need the .iso or .bin to play. The .cue files are unnescesary. Usually when you download a PSX game it will be zipped. Then after you unzip it it will still be compressed into an .ecm file.

You can find programs to ecm and unecm disk images. The unecm program that I have just let's you drag and drop .ecm onto the unecm application icon and it will automatically extract it into a .bin.

Then load the .bin/.iso.

You can also use real PSX discs with certain emulators. It's pretty cool since you can play imports too!
