hey everyone, i wanted to get some peoples opinions on what joysticks and buttons i should use for my mame arcade cab. i have an akishop ps360 that lets me play on my xbox 360, ps3, pc and was wondering if you guys can suggest what parts to use. a fellow byoac member ive been talking to told me i cant use the ultimarc u360 with my akishop ps360 unfortunately so i think that is out of the question, i was leaning towards that one too.

i did buy like a starter type kit on ebay that comes with your basic happ buttons and joysticks and cherry switches. i hooked it all up but i am not digging this clicking at all. so i was wondering if i should use leaf switches and where i should get them from? also was looking at the happ perfect 360 joysticks to use. i just want some good quality stuff where the clicking isnt all that loud. thanks for the help everyone.

P360s are what was used in mortal kombat 2 cabinets. I wouldn't use leaf joysticks for a 360 cab, I personally don't like the feel of leaf sticks, especially for fighters. What are you planning on playing?

There are no microswitches on the p360, and sanwa buttons have te micros
Built into the button. You won't have cherry switches in either

so the p360 i would just connect to my akishop pcb and the sanwa buttons i just connect my wires straight into them? what is te switch? if i choose to use my regular happ buttons, what switches would work well with it and not be so loud?

All buttons use the same connection, one for the function (NO) and one for the GND (COM) no matter what switch type. The only difference is the size of the blade on the switch.

The p360 uses optical encoders so you would need to run 5v to it

You can get the +5V from the Akihabarashop PS360 (the VCC).

i think it came with it, i just tried to plug it in, it has a black, white, green, and red cable and it connects to the slot where it says GND, VCC, d+, d-...so that connects to the joystick?

No, that is just an alternative to using the USB port to connect the PCB to whatever you want to connect it to.

The connector to the far left in my picture shows the screw connector marked VCC. If you have the PCB hooked up to a console/PC that screw connector will have +5V on it.

so i would just add a wire to where it says VCC and wire it up normally or would i have to buy an additional piece for it to work? Do you know where i can find that cable on the akihabara website?

ohh nevermind i think i got it, i just need to add the VCC connection in my wire setup right? alright cool, i think ill order one happ 360 and try that out. but im still thinking about that sanwa jlf you told me about. what would be easier to mount to a 3/4 inch plywood control panel?

also can you suggest some pushbuttons for it too? im using the normal happ pushbuttons with the cherry microswitches, but im thinking of changing the switches to something that doesnt click as loud, or just changing the pushbuttons all together.

I hope you get a pinout for the HAPP P360's for easy connection, but you only need to attach a wire to the +5V on it then a GND and the direction wires. Hopefully you will get some kind of wire harness along with it.

Sorry, all my panels are metal, so I have no experience mounting sticks in wood.

I really like Seimitsu buttons, but I'm not sure that the screw-in type has a long enough body/plunger to be mounted in your plywood. They are very silent even though they're microswitch buttons.

You can mount the sanwa sticks in plywood, just top mount them.  As for the buttons, order some 20 gram micros from paradise arcade or done soft touch micros
From ggg and give them a shot
