CGA/EGA to VGA Converter - Golden Tee

So I purchased the GNOBES HD-CONVERTER MODEL GBS-8220 to display to my 60" LCD Panasonic.

Good news is that I can at least see the video being displayed to the television, which I couldn't see by simply plugging in the output from the video card to the television. The problem that I have is that the screen is crazy jumpy, all over the place.

From what I read, people had this issue with a lot of different converters when they were trying to use medium resolution. I have an odd issue with my board that I can only use standard resolution, so that is how my board is set via DIP switches. I have tried with DIP switch 1 set to on, and switch number 2 to both on and off, and the result is the same, a jumpy image.

I tried to use the auto configuration button on the converter, and initially it was slowing down the jumping screen, but then the screen basically stopped refreshing all together (image was stuck).

Can someone help me fix this issue? I am hooked to the 5-pin RGB connection on the converter and am connected to the correct R,G,B,Ground,Sync cables from my JAMMA harness.

I have a users manual for the converter if anyone is interested. Apparently it is much to large to attach to this forum.

Please make this thing work. I have invested a ton of time and money creating this arcade cabinet.

the old golden tee games seem to use an oddball refresh rate. even computer monitors are a crap shoot. (maybe 1 in 3 work properly) i couldn't get the converter i got to work either. I ended up getting an LCD monitor to use with it. even then the image is a little wobbly.

dunno what to tell you... but if you manage to find one that will work, let me know.

I also attempted with a DELL 15" LCD monitor and the feedback was the exact same as on my television.

For your setup that is working, are you running on standard resolution or medium resolution? If standard res, did you set DIP switch 2 off or on? Here is what the Golden Tee manual says about that.

Dip switch 1 (OFF): Medium Resolution (DEFAULT)
Dip switch 1 (ON): Low Resolution
**Dip switch 2 (OFF): Low Resolution B Adjust
Dip switch 2 (ON):  Low Resolution A (DEFAULT)
Dip switch 3 (ON): Always "ON" (DEFAULT)
Dip switch 4 (ON): Always "ON" (DEFAULT)
**If you are experiencing a “jittery” image, try this mode to
correct.  Restart the game and adjust the monitor.

Ya I did an auto adjust and it clears it up, but after I shut it down and boot it back up, the wobble returns.

Its running at 15k, I couldn't get it to sync at med res. (Monitor Displayed out of range message even though behind the image was there.)

I hear most folks can't get these things to work in Medium Resolution, which is a plus for me since my board doesn't even like that setting. I guess I just need to keep messing with it.

Was there any specific display settings that you used (ie. 800X600, 640X480, etc.)? I see my TV lets me select that the RGB input is either VGA or 480P. I tried messing with that a little, and changing the display setting on the card some, but not much luck so far.

really, the problem is that the screen resolution output buy the GT video card is 320x200 where the resolution output by video cards through windows is actually 321x200 therefore some monitors won't even sync to the odd size.

even so, most monitors have completely eliminated  the low resolution frequencies all together. televisions have eliminated everything below 640x480 some wont even accept anything less than 800x600

So now it doesn't jump anymore, but freezes the picture completely. For some reason, no matter what I do at this point, I can't even make it behave the way it did previously (showing the screen, and playing just very jumpy). I don't really get it.

Do you think wiring it to the 8-pin connector would somehow work any better than the 5 pin-connector? I used the 5-pin connector because the Jamma harness already has a connector wired that I can plug directly to the 5-pin. I believe Golden Tee only uses composite sync since there is only one sync wire and it is just listed as sync in the pinout from the Golden Tee manual.
