MAME sleeper alert: Taito Space Cruiser
« on: March 20, 2011, 07:16:00 pm »
Found this going thru bazillions of roms trying to save screenshots and such. Made by Taito in 1981. Nice graphics for the time. Sort of a multi stage Vanguard-esqe game. Great sounds, they were really on the ball there. Kinda hard, this game's no pushover. The collision detect on the players ship is a little on the touchy side...my only issue with it. Worth checking out for hardcore vintage game fans. Surprised it never was even a moderate hit, its a nice game.

Thats the one. Although it appears whoever did that video had the difficulty dialed down. At the factory settings it is much harder than that. And god help you if you make it past the final stage, it gets way harder when it starts over.

I love finding obscure gems like this....mame so rules....

Did you post it in the favorite 80's obscure video games thread?
I also love finding cool games in the endless rom world. :)

Asteroids point. UFO's in range! I think I saw a grammatical error on every screen that contained text. Awesome... ha.

Saint really needs to incorporate a "Random Game of the Day" feature into the website.  (Hint)
