I need some Aimtrak / Mame help please, i dont know what i did(Now with a Video)

Ok, so besides having this problem http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=110468.0 now my guns wont register in mame at all. In an effort to fix the random mouse id assignment problem i was testing out a few things and now my guns will not register in mame. As in -> goto tab/player1/ lightgun x setup...nothing, it wont register my movement as i pass then gun across the screen..at all. I've set the guns up a few times because of the above linked problem so i know i'm doing it right. I've restarted my pc a few times, used the aimtrak software to calibrate, and the guns work fine as mouse pointers on the desktop, just not in mame. I'm stumped here. I'm using mameui64 and in the controller mapping i have Paddle, ADStick, Pedal, and Positional all set to keyboard. Mouse, Dial, Trackball, set to mouse. And lightgun set to lightgun. I know this is a user error as i have had them working easily enough before but i must have changed something.

I'm really pulling my hair out (not that i have any  ) . I downloaded a new copy of mameui64. Placed it on the desktop. Opened it up, pointed it to my roms and started a shooter (carnevil). Now here is the weird part;  I pressed tab, general settings, player one settings, scrolled down to lightgun x to try and set up the aimtrak gun only to find my settings from the regular mame folder are already here   again i try to get the x and y to register...nothing. The guns work perfect on the desktop, model 2 emulator, nestopia, ect. I just cant get them working again in mame.   I reinstalled the 1.6 firmware too, didnt help. Please, if anyone has any ideas i'm open to hear them.

try a different game, carnevil requires special settings

If you check out this guide for the aimtrak guns you can figure out all the setup info for light gun games in mame.

You might want to start with a straightforward game like point blank. I don't think you have to do any setting stuff for the guns to work in that game.

I had a very similar thing happen to me yesterday.  I finally got my Aimtrak installed in an airsoft gun, had it working in Mame then after some messing around - same thing, stopped registering in Mame but still worked in Windows.  Finally rechecked the Mame.ini file and found that the file had been overwritten somehow and I had to re enter the aimtrak setup variables.  After that, works fine again.

Looks exactly like the problem I had.  Did you check the .ini file?

ok, i completely removed the ini file to my desktop and tried again. Of course i had to set the rom path first, mame audited the roms ands i tried a rom. Again under tab all my previous setup is still there, i can tell right away because it still shows Gun 3 B0 for P1 Button 1. Why isnt it whatever a fresh install of mame would have it set to?k  How do i reset all those setting to the default? I thin thats my problem but i dont know how to fix that.

**Edit** I tried deleting the default.cfg and the mame.ini with the same results, my previous setting are still there. I'm completely deleting and re-DLing mame right now...and crossing my fingers.
  Cripessss they are still there!!! where are they stored?? Are they in the roms??? This is f'n ridiculous

try to close out of mame, unplug all usb devices. Then plug 1 aimtrack in, then the 2nd. Then plug the rest of your usb devices in. Now try to reconfigure the lightgun in mame and see if it registers now.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didnt fix it. I'm at a loss here.

may not help but have you tried to change multimouse to 0 in the mame.ini?

For my ini i only have lightgun 1 and offscreen reload 1

YEEEESSSS!!!! Its working!!!!!!!! I have no idea why either!! I think it was a combination of completely deleting my mame folder, unplugging all my usb accessories and a reboot.
