Image Stability with 60 In 1 card and APEX TV

Hey everyone, got a question.  I have an Apex 20 inch television I purchased at a thrift shot for $20, great picture on it. I has mono sound (who cares) and composite input (yellow socket.)  I got a 60 in 1 game card, and noticed that it only has VGA on it, no composite.  I figured no big deal, i will get a VGA to Composite converter.  OK here is the issue,  the image shakes in spots, in fact it kind of strobes.  I'm thinking its refresh rate or something.  I'm also guessing that the one I got was an El cheapo.  Can anyone make a suggestion to me?

Yes it plays Great on my 19 inch VGA monitor, but like with all VGA monitors the sharpness is too "good" to be a video game monitor.  That was the reason I went with the TV.

Composite video will always have a flicker to it when used with games not intended to be viewed at standard resolution (converted to composite from the VGA output). In addition, that board doesn't support a TV type output. So anything you do to get it to play on a TV will look substandard. All it has is RGB arcade monitor video on the JAMMA interface, and VGA pc type monitor out. Only the RGB output will make the pix look like it should. A video converter box with component video outputs would be the next best thing, but your TV doesn't support it.....

Thanks.  Looks like I am going to have to find a "Genuine" arcade monitor somewhere then, or put a Flat Panel in.. Something I don't want to do.

Keep in mind that if you get an arcade monitor, you need to power it through an isolation transformer. That is a 1:1 wound transformer (120v in, 120v out) that gets the monitor off a direct connection to the AC line. The monitor will be damaged if this is not observed.

Another option would be to get a professional broadcast  tv/monitor that has RGB inputs. The Sony PVM series is what you'd be looking for.

All you'd need to do is change the RGB connectors to match whats on the back on the monitor....

Awesome.. Ill look around on Craigslist or ebay and see if I can fine one.  I like that option much better too.
