I've been working on this for a few weeks now, taking a few pictures with my phone as I go. I thought I'd throw them up here for all to see.

Very nice. What size monitor is going in there?
Any artwork or theme in mind?

It's getting a 19" flatscreen 'square' monitor. It'll be painted DK Blue with white t-molding. If there is any artwork it will be cut out of 1/4" plywood and painted.

It'll have one of Ultimarc's switchable joysticks, an Ultimarc trackball and about 19 buttons.

Finally getting back to this, put a coat of paint on everything this morning. Also, my office is a mess!

Working on this again, got the power button wired up last week. I might have this playable in the next week or so!

JRC:
Did you end up soldering the power switch leads to one of the breakout boards at the front of the dell? Or was there a wire to tap into at some point past the ribbon cables back to the MB?
good looking bartop.

I connected them to the little board that sits at a funny angle at the front of the machine. Pins two and three of the 16 pin connector if I remember right. I just disconnected the existing connector, it only effects the power button and the LED lights on the front panel anyway.

I just put what I am determined will be the final coat of paint on this, really anxious to get started on the assembly portion of this project!

If you don't look too close this doesn't look too bad, I think I might just rebuild the CP though, one of the trackball bolts pushed through. The plexiglass work could be better too.

What are you doing for a marquee? I like the design. Nice job on the bezel

No real marquee to speak of, just some cut out letters that will say ARCADE or something equally clever.
