Golden Tee Trackball to MAME
« on: March 07, 2011, 11:20:04 am »
So I am building a pedestal cabinet for my Golden Tee 2005 FORE PCB, and am looking into a MAME project. My question would be, is there a way to wire my GT trackball to work in a MAME setup as well? Obviously the goal is to have one CP that has everything for MAME and GT. Everything except the trackball would be either dedicated to MAME or the JAMMA setup, so the trackball is the only one I have a question about.

I am thinking there has to be a way to splice some wires and use one of the optical interface cards to connect to a PC, but really have no clue.

Thanks!

You can definitely wire a betson type tb to both the inputs of your jamma and mame simultaneously. You could use an optiwiz for that. I have the original molex still on mine, and I just spliced 12" leads into the pin connectors in the molex, to the usb interface (optiwiz).

Okay perfect, so I just splice the original leads that are heading into my PCB with leads into the OPTIWIZ? Where can I get the type of trackball that you mention (reputable dealer)?

There is a special tool for wiring into the molex type connectors, correct?

ebay - search betson trackball, a happ style should be workable also. You can get a crimper, but you can probably just solder directly to the pin itself, if your wire gauge is light. To each his own..

Why do you need another trackball if you already have a betson type in your golden tee cab?

Sorry if I confused anyone, I am actually building a cab from scratch to house Golden Tee, but I also want it to house a MAME setup. I need to by the trackball, so I want one that I can use for both the Golden Tee and MAME.

Ok misunderstood the question.  Thought you had the TB.

"My question would be, is there a way to wire my GT trackball to work in a MAME setup as well?"

Cannot think of any regular vendor on the forum selling Betson or Wico trackballs.

There is always Betson
