yeah, i a, gonna get a switch that switches the sound and the monitor. I could just wire the whole CP to the xbox pads, and use a USB KVM, but I would rather use my encoder and keep it plugged in to the pc at all times.
The idea is that on my admin panel above my cp there will be a switch that operates the kvm in the middle and then 2 xbox buttons on each side that will turn on the xbox and the controllers.
If someone wanted to play the xbox, they hit the button that switches the KVM switch and the audio and video switch to the xbox, then they push the xbox home buttons to turn the xbox on/ff and turn their controllers on. If they wanted to get back to the PC, they just shutdown the xbox with the home buttons and push the KVM switch to swap the sound and video over.
My PC would stay on the whole time. At first I was worried that my pc would be going crazy with all the inputs, but I have a dedicated exit and select button, so all the button and joystick mashing while in xbox mode would just move the selections around in my FE, so I am not worried about that. If it becomes a problem, then I have two options:
1) ditch the encoder and just use the xbox 360 pads and plug them into the kvm, that way when I switch the kvm, they basically unplug the controllers from the pc and plug them in to the xbox; or
2) plug my encoder into the usb of the kvm, so that when I switch the KVM, the encoder would switch from the pc to essentially nothing.
The main reason I don't want to do 1 is because I like the way my CP is set up now, and don't want to rewire everthing and take the encoder out and set up all the emulators back up using the xbox inputs.
The main reason I don't want to do number 2, is because I am worried about that "new device found" notification popping up when i switch back to the pc.
Therefore, what I want to do is i wire the buttons so that when I hit say, up on the joystick, it registers up on my encoder and Up on the 360 at the same time. Does anyone see a problem with this?
