I think it best to use the standard configuration format for the emulator. You will see the editor very quickly, minor eyesore, but all will run smoothly.

First, set it up as directed in the tutorial/how you have VP8 set up (if you do).

Second, use this 'cabinet' vpinmame dll. Rename the original in your folder to something else (for example, vpinmameo.dll), and rename the cab dll to vpinmame. Remember to reinstall it and reset your vpinmame paths.

Three, get and put closemul in your main VP directory, and point the exe path in Mala to that. (No need to click on closemul or anything. It knows what to do all by itself.)

Should be smooth as silk. (I should be this in the tutorial!)

Right i have renamed the original vpinmame.dll to vpinmameo.dll and the download the cabinet file you told me to download and renamed it to vpinmame. do i need to add .dll to the end of this file name?
right you have told me to reset the paths to find the new file do i do this in mame setup folder under the setup paths tab.
if it is which one do i need to change is it the configuration tab or the nvram tab?
Sorry if i sound a bit slow at this but my computer skills are a bit bad but im really trying.
thanks

1. 'MAME' and 'VPINMAME' are two different things. Vpinmame works with Visual Pinball (note the title of the thread) emulator.

2. in case 'file extensions' are displaying on your system, include the extension when re-naming. The only exception being 'shortcuts', files must have an extension.
