Tornado Spinner & OptiPac
« on: August 22, 2003, 11:47:56 am »
Hello,

Has anyone had any luck in getting a Tornado spinner to work with an OptiPac?

I have tried everything...hooked it up to both the spinner and trackball inputs, with both Active HI and Active LO to no avail.  Both inputs work...by Betson trackball works perfectly hooked up to either input.

I want to be able to hook up both to the one encoder, instead of having the OptiPac and the Tornado both going into my USB ports.

Thanks in advance!

My Tornado spinner seems to be dead on arrival...   did yours work with the USB plug it came with?  When I plug mine in nothing happens, no new device found, nothing.  I took a voltmeter to the optical outputs and they're both hovering at 3.5v, right between logic high and logic low, regardless of what I do to the spinner itself.

SlikStik figured it out!  They accidentally shipped the second, dangling PCB with the optic board plugged into the USB header, and the USB header plugged into the optic board.  Good thing the plugs were intelligently arranged so that this didn't reverse power or otherwise burn anything up!

Spinner works like a charm now, and I'm going to keep it on its own USB plug now since I heard some people had weird "spinner goes to sleep at bad times" problems plugging a spinner and a trackball into the optipac at the same time.

Same exact thing happened to me.  It came from slikstik connected up wrong.
