Trackball settings in Mame games?

Guys this may be a dumb question, but I just want to play games as close as possible to their real life counterparts. 

Say like games like Missle Command or Crystal Castles or etc...Here is my thing.  Most of these games are set and ready to go from the start.  Since I have in MAME the mouse setting to 1.  Anyways in games I play and since I have not played a real trackball arcade in years due to the fact I don't know where any arcades are in my area...

Here is my question in MAME.  It will say something like Trackball set to Mouse X under that it will say Mouse X - then under that Mouse X + these are set to default the left and right keyboard arrows aka my P1 Joystick.  Should I leave it like that? Or should I change it to where I input those as Mouse left or Mouse Right aka trackball left trackball right...When I do that I find the sensitivity is way too high!

However, if this is how it is supposed to be then I want to make it the same sensitivity so it plays like the original games.

If you don't understand I can re-word this a little bit when I get home and am in front of my MAME cab.

I am thinking it is set up all good because it is set by default like this.  I mean since the first option is Trackball X is set to like Mouse X1 or whatever it is all good.  Maybe if I cleared the control to None on the top setting and then set Mouse X - and Mouse X + to the direction maybe it would run at the same sensitivity.  What do you guys think?
