1300-in-1
« on: February 13, 2011, 09:19:36 pm »
I found a local guy that will sell me everything I need to convert my cabinet to a 1300-in-1. Is this very hard to do for someone who's never done it before? I've been googling but I haven't found any good guides yet.

Not very hard but an old PC and MAME will give you alot better performance and more choices for customization.

It would depend on some variables.  Like what is your cab now?  Is it a real arcade cab with a Jamma connector in it?  If so, then swapping in the new board and maybe adding a few extra buttons would be pretty easy.    But like BobA said, if you wanted to be able to customize it more, adding a PC and MAME instead would get you that.  But if you're not that technical swapping boards might be easier I guess.

Yeah,
If your cabinet is currently a jamma cab, then the 1300-in-1 will be easiest if you don't want a major project.

I think OP would find much better advice on this at the KLOV forums.http://forums.arcade-museum.com/

We're more into simple woodworking and building custom MAME cabinets but they're more into technical Cabinet restorations and gut, hardware work. Give them a try and I'm sure you'll find plenty of info on building or restoring a JAMMA based cab.

I thought most of us were lol.

The only other great community resource for Arcade cabinet enthusiasts I think.

I think this forum would be more help then KLOV look for the multi board discussion and help forum.

http://www.aussiearcade.com.au/

I would have directly linked to it but the site does not allow hot links.
