Aimtrak problem
« on: February 13, 2011, 05:10:08 pm »
I have two Aimtraks installed and working perfectly outside of MAME. I have joystick and lightgun set to 1 in mame.ini. Everything is configured in the MAME in game config. The cursors track perfectly. When I assign the player button 1 to the trigger it picks it up fine, but it won't fire in game.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Problem seems to be having button 1, etc. set to the gun and my control panel. When I set it to just the trigger it works fine. Any ways around this other than editing the "Input: This Game" for each game?

I had this problem until I switched the settings in the AimTrak software to set the trigger to left/right mouse.  Since then they have both worked perfectly.  Not sure if that will work, but it did for me.

Latest version of MAME. I have it set in the Aimtrak config to mouse left and right. Just for some reason MAME won't let me have both my CP and the gun set at the same time.

so you hit tab go to general inputs and then under button one you set it to "joystick button 1 or mouse button 0"  or something like that and that keeps it from understanding the aimtrak fire button?

Yeah, I set Player 1 button 1 to button one on my CP and the trigger on the Aimtrak and it shows them both accurately on the config (tab) menu for Player 1 button 1 but it won't let me use either button with them both set. If I set it to just one of them, it works fine.

Oh... is it showing as cp button 1 OR aimtrack button1?  or is it showing as cp button 1 AND aimtrack button 1?

it doesn't say either 'and' or 'or'... perhaps I'm setting it to need to press both at the same time? How do I insert the 'or'?

How do I configure the keys?

Press Tab in-game and choose "Input: This Game". Select the input you want to configure, press enter followed by the key you want it mapped to.

More fancy key combinations can be made. To map this key OR that key, set one of the keys as before, wait until mame accepts it, then repeat for second key. To map so two keys have to be pressed at the same time, press both (or more) keys (or press them with a second of each other) after pressing enter. To map a NOT (key1 only if key2 is not also pressed), enter, press first key, then quickly press the second key(s) twice.

"Input: General" can be selected to change all games inputs, and mame's UI buttons.

This remapping will also work for joystick or mouse inputs if joystick or mouse support is enabled (see below).
