Want to build xbox 360 cab - question
« on: February 11, 2011, 09:37:56 am »
I want to build a 360 cab. I have a donor xbox, buti it is not jtaggable.  Ideally I want a JTAG, but I am not sure where to get a good one.  Then I got to thinking. You can get a hd DVD drive for dirt cheap. Is there a way to flAsh the hd DVD drive to play backups?  That way I can mount the drive on the outside of my cab, and I can just keep a copy of the games u want to play on it instead of having to go to the other room and finding it.

A jtag is definitely the way to go. I got one from SNAAKE last year. You could try seeing if he has any. And even though yours can't be jtag'd you can probably still get someone to mod it for you to play backups.

I have no knowledge for you, but can I say how much I would love to make a dedicated Pac Man CE DX bartop with an old 360? I so heart that game.
Completed projects: Pac bartop (Plug & Play), 30th Anniversary Pac cab (MAME), Point Blank (PS1), Centipede (arcade hardware- light restore), VS. Super Mario Bros (arcade hardware- light restore) Tetris Cocktail (SNES), Arcade Classics upright (60-in-1, then MAME), Multi-Raiden (arcade hardware). Pac Man vs.(Gamecube),

Working on: Pinball Re-theme, Homebrew arcade arena shooter

Yeah, go for the Jtag.

Also, what are you going to do for control interfacing? I know a guy that does wonderful pad-hacking, and loves Pole Position. ;)
He did the hacks for my Galaxbox, and they're great!

A bartop or cabaret would be sweet!
Pacman CE on a real 4-way joystick is so awesome. Can't stand playing it on the 360's D-pad.

Already have 2 hori ex sticks to use for controls. Want a JTAG, since it would be cool to not swap discs. I'll pm SNAAKE
