How to get a NorthCoast Custom Arcade DIY kit to Europe?
« on: February 11, 2011, 04:42:28 am »
I am looking around to build a Arcade cabinet myself, but I don't have that much time that I want to do all the woodwork myself. So I'm looking for cabinet kits to assemble myself. NorthCoast Custom Arcades have very nice kits, but since I live in The Netherlands I am looking for a way to get a kit over here. I contacted them and they do send to The Netherlands, but It'll cost as much as the kit does  :dizzy:

Is there an importer over in Europe or something?

I also don't know how to do the woodwork but I built 2 arcade controller, Just buy some cheap wood precutted, and a hobby spraypaint kit was enough to paint it. So better if you make a cab or buy an old one and refurbish from france for example.

But again the cheapest solution is to get an old cab than can't be restored, and convert it.

Well, it's not the price (of the kit) that bothers me, I really like the DIY kits that North Coast Custom Arcades has. Starting from scratch is a bit too much for me, so I would love to build the tabletop or the cocktail cabinet myself from the NCCA kit. The one thing that bothers me is that kit costs $247, but sending it to The Netherlands costs $380!  :hissy:  :-[

Thanks guys! I will look into their cabinets  :applaud:

I also found some other ways to transport a DIY kit from the US to Europe: some guy that I found on a car forum I regularly visit ships car parts in containers and he also has room for other stuff every now and then. Shipping a 25kg package will cost me around $50 or $75 and that's a lot friendlier than $400  :lol

My own Mame cabinet: here it comes!  :notworthy:

Yess, the kit has arrived in Texas with a guy who's going to stuff it into a container where it will spend the next month crossing the atlantic & Dutch customs  :notworthy:

Turnacades had some nice kits too, but I really loved the kit from NorthCoast Custom Arcades and I already made contact with the shipping guy. I did order my joysticks & buttons in England: at the Gremlin Solutions shop.

Fair play, I'd encourage anyone to go with a cabinet design they really like as long as the costs aren't prohibitive. Just FYI any other members from the Netherlands, we can ship full machines to you for around £160, or a bit less for kits. In fact, most western Europe locations will be around £100-£200 for full machines.

On a side note, we are currently looking for re-sellers for our various kits in several mainland Europe countries. If any companies or even small-time European part vendors are interested in tapping into the European market  for cabinet kits then drop us a message.
