Turbotwist2 dimensions?
« on: February 10, 2011, 06:35:12 am »
Does anyone know what the dimensions of the TT2 spinner are?  I'm mostly concerned about the depth needed to fit it below a metal panel.

I just bought 2, I measured one and it is 3 1/8 inches deep from the panel top.  This includes the extra weight attached to the bottom.  (I don't really want to remove the weight so if you want the measurement without it you will have to wait for someone else.)

Who would use it without the weight? It fits fine below the metal panel on a Major Havok Conversion CP, and an Arkanoid panel....

Well, I'm not using one of those panels.

Sure, if you like.  I only asked for the dimensions.

Who would use it without the weight?

"If operation as a spinner is desired and a lightweight knob is to be used, it is strongly recommended that the optional Energy Storage Cylinder (ESC) is purchased."

"No ESC Required - The Energy Storage Cylinder is no longer required for prolonged spin when you use the TokenTop knob. Reduces the vertical footprint of the TurboTwist 2 to an amazing 1.5" below 3/4" wood panels with no spinner performance penalty!"

Thanks, I did see that on their site.... although that statement is worded in a way that makes me think it would *not* be a mere 1.5" below a 3/4" wood panel without the Token knob.  I don't see how, so I'll have to buy one and take a chance.

Based on replies, sounds like its 2 1/4" without the weight and about 3 1/8" with.

I think your statement about the TokenTop knob is correct.  The point there, I believe, is that the TokenTop has some weight to it that would eliminate the need for the ESC.

Do you know your depth restriction?

If you've got about 3 1/2", then you're good either way.

For a small bartop I was thinking of buying, I believe I only have 2 inches below the panel.  I'll have to verify.

Depending on the build, there may be more clearance if you plan on mounting toward the back of the CP.

Just something to consider.

I can build a special, low profile unit, if you need one.  Depth from top of panel is about 1.75"

Excellent!  That would be perfect.  I'll contact you when the time comes.
