How was your D9200 boxed?

I was amazed at how mine was shipped -- tube down, with three relatively small pieces of styrofoam.

It makes sense to put the tube face down, since that's where the majority of the weight is and you don't want the box tipping over, but it sure looks weird when you open it up!

Mine came packed like crap, and one of the bottom corners of the box looked like a shark bit it off. I mean compleatly gone, you could see the entire monitor about halfe the corner was just gone. Luckily the monitor was fine.

Yeah mine had the 3 pieces of Stryofoam and oddly enough mine too had a small hole in the corner of the box, the forgot to get me a power cord (I have a thread on this) so I have no idea if it works sadly. Ima call em tommarrow and tell em to ship me one asap!

You can probably make your own plug fairly easily. All you have to do is find something that can plug into the power header, and then splice that onto an extension cord.

Ok, is the place where the power cord plugs in have two pins or three? All my monitors so far have had two.

If it is two, then it is simple. Basically all you have to do is cut open an extension cord, and make one of the wires go to one pin, and the other wire go to the other.

OR

I would have to see the place where the cord hooks up to tell you exactly what kind of connector you need. But chances are good that if you just measured the distance between the pins, then you could go to the thrift store and pick up a power cord that would fit. Check waffle irons and coffee makers especially, as they tend to have removable cords. Don't get any kind of cord with a brick on it, just a cord.

Nothing happend but not too safe.

Tube down would be the safest way to pack a tube for it's safety;  Not only is the weight on the bottom so it's evenly dstributed, the tube can take a hit alot better than the neck ever could.

Frankly I wouldn't hesitate to cut off a molex power connector, you can make a better connection using wire nuts. ;)

Nope mine didn't, I talked to them today and they said most customers dont need them and end up throwing them out so they stopped putting them in the packages and sometimes forget to ask. Mine will come monday hopefully (the suspense is killing me). Anyone know how I can make one in the meantime?

hmmm... I don't have the ultimarc card myself....

but I believe that card is based on a Raedon chip set... (or something like that.... )

so, it should be able to use TV / Computer Mon / Arcade Mon...

That's why its a very good card....

if you can plug it into a computer mon / tv and it displays correctly, then basically you know the card is working fine.... (just trying to pin-point the error....)

you know... I have had cards not plug in tight enough and it didn't work.... (If I remember correctly... that's a sound card...)

Whenever I plug my Ultimarc card in a comp. monitor it says unable to detect signal or something like that. I thought the card could only be used for monitors that take 15mhz (??) so this is normal right, or is both my monitor and video card broke?

Plug your PC monitor into the 'other' VGA connector (the one in the middle of the card).  This will output at PC frequencies AFTER your PC has gotten into Windows.  You will have to install the drivers if you have not already.

If this works...plug your arcade monitor into the VGA connector near the side of the card.  Then unplug your PC monitor (the card will default to 'PC monitor mode' if you do not).

Basically, check which VGA sockets you are plugging things into.  The POST etc. should show up on the arcade monitor if all is well...

FWIW the ArcadeVGA will only work on TV (s-video) once the drivers are installed, so I wouldn't bother with that.

I also remembered, if you have the arcade monitor plugged in correctly, it *should* work from the moment you power on your PC (even before installing drivers).  In fact, this is the recommended way to do it.

Let us know how it goes.

Ok so I tried using a normal comp. monitor on the Ultimarc card in the middle plug. Nothing happens but signal out of range... so I go to install the drivers for the Ultimarc card to see if they needed the drivers before allowing a normal comp. monitor to display windows and boom error loading ati setup??? What gives?? Do the ultimarc drivers need to be installed before a normal comp. monitor can be plugged in? Also does the ultimarc card need to be in while I install the drivers cause then otherwise I have to wait till my replacement D9200 shows up (cause I have no way of seeing the screen w/o a working D9200).any of this making sense?..this is such a pain.

Thanks for any help.

hmmm.... since I don't have the ultimarc card... this is pure guessing....

but if you plug in comp. mon / tv and it still doesn't work....

maybe your card is not setup correctly..... (and that's why the arcade mon doesn't work also....)

well..... I could be typing complete trash since I don't have the card and never used it before myself....

I would say.... contact Andy from Ultimarc and see if he could help....
maybe set it up so that you're sure its working first....

good luck....

I can't remember 100% if the PC monitor will work before installing the drivers (maybe not).  Ask at the Ultimarc board over at www.mameworld.net .

If you know your monitor is broke, I would suggest just wait until you get the replacement.  A shame I know, but even if you get the card going you'll be p*ssed not being able to use it properly :(

If you're worried about the AVGA being broke, first find the answer to the first paragraph...
