ipac/button question
« on: January 31, 2011, 11:29:43 pm »
hey all

first post here, long time reader.  im finally gathering supplies for my first cab and i have a button/ipac question.  im going to need somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-60 buttons on my cp.  a ton i know but this isnt your ordinary arcade cab, its gonna play World of Warcraft.  so my question is this - instead of having 50 actual buttons on the cp could i have 12 (default 0-9, -, =) then just have a shift/ctrl button or some modifier button to use with the original 12?  ex - say 0 puts you on your mount, then say shift+0 would run a macro.  id prefer to not have a million buttons as it gets expensive so if i could just have the base 12, admin keys(esc, c, k etc) then use shift or ctrl as a modifier to use those same keys to do a different thing id be stoked.  can the ipac do this?  WoW allows it and im playing on a laptop currently so id imagine if a keyboard can do it in-game already the ipac should allow it.  thanks for any help in advance.

The ipac has 32 inputs and 1 shift key so you can do double duty on the keys and assign new keys or macros.  If you only used 12 of the inputs you could only generate 24 keys or macros.   So generating all your keys with only one shift available will not work with your 12 keys.

Some sort of electrical switching would be required to do what you want to do such as a relay that sends the button presses to other inputs on the ipac.
