Help - Which PC & Mame version , for my needs
« on: January 31, 2011, 09:57:46 pm »
I want to run a dedicated PC in an arcade cab .

I ONLY want to play old classic games made before 1985 .

I want it as accurate as possible to the original game boards .

I am going to use an ArcadeVGA 3000 video card and Jpac .

What type of PC should I get , specs , processor ?

What version of Mame should I run ?

The games I'm most focused on running is Donkey Kong , MsPacman , Galaxian , Pengo , Dig Dug , MrDo .....early classics .

Thanks for the Help !

Always run the latest version of MAME if you want the most accurate emulation. For Donkey Kong, you will need at least an Athlon XP2500 processor, or something similar. Of the classics, DK is probably the most demanding. when they added real sound emulation a while back, the processor requirement went way up. The other games you mentioned will run on much slower systems.
