First arcade restore, need some advice
« on: January 30, 2011, 04:07:12 pm »
I'm rebuilding a Hyperware Ultracade which is a converted Midway Mortal Combat.

Anyway, I've had a ton of technical issues, I have been working through

I've replaced the PC motherboard, the newer motherboard will not fit the case.  I can get a case, but I think it would be cleaner to mount the board to the wood back board.

What do you think?

I'd need to mount the motherboard, the HDD, the power supply and the USBLinx card.  If you'd do that, what hardware would you use?  I'm thinking some L shaped standoff brackets for the motherboard.  Not sure how I'd mount the other stuff.

If you are using a PC inside your cab, you are in the wrong forum section.

My current collection:  Arkanoid^3, Asteroids Deluxe, Centipede, Donkey Kong w/DIIK, Frenzy w/Berzerk multi, Galaga, Galaxian, Gyruss, Mappy,  Missile Command, Multi-Williams, O'Boyles Arcade (Mame), Pac-man,  Sinistar, Star Wars, Tempest, War Gods

RESTORE verb
1. to bring back to a former, original, or normal condition, as a building, statue, or painting.
2. to reproduce or reconstruct (an ancient building, extinct animal, etc.) in the original state.
NO MORE!!

Didn't the Ultracade cabs come with a pc from the factory? If so and he is restoring back to original then there should be a pc in it and he is restoring it to factory original condition.

But I don't think they were shipped from the factory in Midway cabs.

I took his post to mean the Ultracade cab had been converted to a Mortal Combat but maybe you're correct.

Yeah I ran into an old Final Fight USA style Cab that was modified to an Ultracade with the multigame PC inside of it at a pizza shop. It was well done but still a little odd. I'd imagine it'd be hard to discern a re-used cab if you didn't have experience with them.
