Help! What did I do?

Well I got a control panel with an iPac4 from someone else. It was working fine, but player 3 needed some tweaking.
I was coming up with a plan to re-wire player 3 when I read on these boards and or the ultimarc site that I could press ctrl+alt+P to do a test. I thought this might somehow reveal a specific problem to me to make my rewiring easier.
So I pressed ctrl+alt+P while in windows and it opened up about 10 different windows like the recycle bin and my Mame UI. That was weird . . .
Now none of my switches are working! They were programmed fine, but now they just register nonesense when I go into the GUI 'test mode.'
I tried to reprogram, but I get a 'timeout' and nothing changes.
What did I do!? Did I somehow break the iPac while trying to do a test!?

Well I rebooted the computer and then increased the timeout in the WinIpac software and programed. That seemed to get me back to where I was. . .
The programming still never tells me success or whatever - just timeout.
I"d like to be able to do the ctrl+alt+p test . . . seems like something is wrong. If anyone has an idea lemme know.

Wiseman: When you removed the book from the cradle, did you speak the words?
Ash: Yeah, basically.
Wiseman: Did you speak the exact words?
Ash: Look, maybe I didn't say every single little tiny syllable, no. But basically I said them, yeah
