I saw somewhere that somebody did the same thing that used an electric drill motor.

This guys solutions is a lot cheaper.

If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

It's very responsive, and apparently no servos. But the commercial models have force feedback, which I gather is important to model and experience  plane handling.
