Mame Cabinet/WG 9800 & Extra's For Sale - $600 - Michigan
I picked up the cabinet back in 2003 at the local arcade for $600. It was a little more than what I wanted to spend at the time but It was the best 2-player cab for sale. I then gutted out the cab, bought my first WG monitor(25") and installed a top of the line computer system (at the time) into it. As time progressed, my computer system wasn't playing certain games that I liked at full speed. So this time last year(Jan of 2010) I had a bad case of cabin fever. So once again I gutted out and replaced everything with new parts(Monitor, computer system, control panel (ipac, joysticks, buttons), sound system and added WiFi. So now to the present ...I have cabin fever again and its time for another project. I recently received a new UAII arcade cab for Christmas(just the cab..nothing else) and its my foundation for my new arcade system.
What I am selling is: Arcade Cabinet, Monitor, Control Panel (Fully assembled), Mame Marquee With Plexiglas & Light, Monitor Bezel, Monitor Glass, Ipac2 Keyboard Encoder, Speakers, Coin Door, extra buttons/micro switches/wires and a semi working 2nd Ipac2
WHAT'S NOT FOR SALE: COMPUTER SYSTEM, KEYBOARD, MOUSE & POWER STRIP
- The cabinet is in pretty good shape. I painted it many times as needed. I rate the cabinet a 5 or 6 out of 10. It's made of solid wood not particle/compressed wood. Sturdy. The power button for the arcade cabinet is located in the backside/upper left and it uses a red arcade pushbutton. It also has a pull out shelf where I have the computer internals mounted to(Control panel also connected to this shelf). I also painted the inside black to match. The cabinet is in pretty good shape(if not very good) and I can guarantee you that It WON'T be on the mame of shame list anytime soon.
- Control panel was originally for a Marvel Super Heroes arcade game. The panel had cigarette burns/chips/scratches on it. I didn't like it so I made my own with the layout that I wanted. The control panel is covered in pleather and looks very decent. It has 17 buttons and 3 joysticks (all are soldered and wires routed nicely). Buttons are: Coin 1 & 2, Start 1 & 2, Enter and 6 buttons per person. If you press 1&2 start buttons together, it pauses the game and if you press 1 & Enter buttons, you Exit that game. Each player has 8 way micro switched joysticks and there is a 4 way joystick in the middle of the control panel for games like Donkey Kong, Pac Man, Dig Dug, Mr Do, ect.
- The marquee picture is what they call MAME BLAST, sandwiched between 2 layers of Plexiglas and is illuminated by a fluorescent light which is located behind the marquee.
- The monitor is a Wells Gardner D9800 (27") and was purchase last year($500). It has a external control board to adjust width, colors, degauss, ect. I have had NO problems with this monitor what so ever! Colors are vivid and clear. The monitor fills up the cabinet very nicely...not some arcade cabinets where you see a 19" monitor where one like the 9800 should be.
- When I purchased my WG D9800 I also purchased a monitor bezel. The monitor bezel is made out of thick black plastic and slopes inward to hide the ugly mounting brackets.
- The arcade cabinet originally came with a monitor protective cover (Plexiglas) and had a couple bad scratches. I took the dimensions and had a 1/8" glass cover made instead.
- In order for the Joystick/buttons to work as an arcade control panel it needs a keyboard encoder. I use the Ipac2 encoder via USB cable. I think I'm using all but 6 inputs , so if you wanted to add more buttons your could...I don't have the CD that it came with so you would need to download that off the net.
- The speakers are Logitech. 2 satellites with a subwoofer. They sound great and the bass thumps. I drilled a hole in the middle of the existing volume control on the speaker assembly, mounted the speaker and added a larger dial that is mounted thru the speaker grill area(wood) and into the existing volume dial. Performs/looks very good and is hidden.
- The coin door is inoperative right now. Its primarily just for looks. Its missing some internal parts and also missing the lock. I was meaning to install lights in it but never got around to it. It won't take much to make it a fully functional.
- There is also a 2nd Ipac2 that I'm including. It's one of the 1st production models and from what I remember that it doesn't recognize joystick controls (u,d,l,r) but it works for button inputs thou. If you use USB based joysticks with this Ipac2 in another setup you shouldn't have a problem.
-I have a bunch of wire/misc buttons and some micro switches. This stuff I collected when I gutted apart the cabinet.
All in all this is a damn good setup and in damn good shape. All you need is to add a computer system to fully have that arcade experience at your own home. I would prefer to sell this to someone who knows computers(in and outs), how mame works and someone who will preserve that arcade feel.
I'm asking $600...for everything mentioned above but NOT the Computer System, Keyboard, Mouse & Power Strip. Also, I'll include 2 - Ultrastik 360's. I bought them early last year and only used them for about a month. They are top of the line joysticks but I don't like them. They can't with stand games like ROBOTRON where you constantly pushing/pulling on the sticks. Don't get me wrong, the U360's work great...but just not for my gaming needs (my fav game is ROBOTRON). Also included are 2 usb cables for the sticks. If you decide to use the sticks you'll need to download the software/drivers on the net.
I'm very descriptive and honest when selling stuff. I've been burned in the past and it's not cool. Like I said above, This arcade cabinet is in pretty damn good shape. I'm very matriculate when it comes to my projects. This arcade cabinet is a VERY GOOD starting point if you always wanted a mame cabinet.
