I use AtomicFE which has a Daphne front end for it, you can boot into and out off which ever emulator you want using AtomicFE. I set my cabinet up in 2005 so there might be other options maybe others can input.
Just read you want linux support, not sure if Atomic is.
AtomicFE looks to be also a Windows oriented application. I decided to give Wah!Cade a shot since I had been using that in Linux before. As it turns out, it does support other emulators including Daphne. I tried to set up Daphne with Wah!Cade today, and all of a sudden Daphne was demanding an internet connection for an update. I had my connection tied up on another machine I was working and for some strange reason, Daphne wouldn't work until I reconnected the internet connection and it updated itself. I was like, huh? I never seen THAT before.
Furthermore now I have noticed that Esh's Aurunmilla is coming up with an error message saying that the "drivers are immature but the game will run anyway".
I don't know what the developers are up to at Daphne, but I don't like the fact that now you HAVE to have an internet connection? As you see, the updates seem to have broke something and I am not particularly happy about that.
I made a separate post of these new findings here. I am wondering if others have the same issues. If this is going to be the case with Daphne, then I am going to stop using it and perhaps look into another way to play laser disc games.
This is a real shame too because Daphne set up so fast and easy.
Another option is that I could reload my old version 1.0 of Daphne, but I would need to know how to properly disable the need for it to connect to the internet.
Getting back on track to using a front end with Daphne, I had noticed that the scores and lives display do not show up when I go into Daphne via Wah!Cade. But if I use the Daphneloader, it works fine.
Anyway, that is the scoop so far.
I am hoping that there are some solutions to these new problems that cropped up with Daphne.
Thanx,
Geo
