Got a bit derailed, finally finishing up the bartop
« on: January 15, 2011, 01:24:07 pm »
Hey guys.

I got derailed by various house repairs, but I'm finally back to finish the bartop for my (now) wife.

I have all/most of the "arcade" hardware, and I'm going to be using a 3.0GHz Intel single core.  Mostly really classic games, I think street fighter II/tmnt/simpsons would likely be the most demanding game that would run.

I have a 19" lcd ready to go.

Now, the main thing I need help with is a bartop kit.  I don't have access to any woodworking tools, so this has to be pretty plug and play.

Can you recommend a kit?  Preferably one with a monitor mount included, again, I don't really have access to woodworking stuff here in DC.

I want to be able to have a joystick - six player buttons - joystick setup, as the wife loves pac man and prefers to control that with her right hand, unlike most games... do you think that's a good layout?

Thanks!
Charlie

Here is a tread for a bartop I built using a kit from PeteDiak in the buy and sell forum.

Thanks.

I was initially planning on using the MAMEROOM kit.  I have like, zero power tools or room to do stuff like that in our townhouse.

Was the PeteDiak kit really plug in play or did you have to do a lot of fiddling?

Not really any fiddling but I had to do my own CP and decide if I wanted switches and fan on the back.   You will have to figure that out on almost any cab you build.
