levelers and casters advice?
« on: January 14, 2011, 01:01:30 pm »
Hi,
I'm building my Mame cabinet using a Bad Dudes cabinet, but with a 25" vertical monitor. (I'll be posting the project announcement soon).
any way I'm thinking of putting straight casters on the rear with a 2x3 riser using leg levelers on the front.
much like the setup on knievels twin taitos.

My casters are each rated for 175 lbs.
For me, it helps my back to have the cabinet raised like this and I need to be able to pull it out from the wall for service.
The room my cabinet will be in is carpeted.
I know some guys have gone this and similar routes.
I'd appreciate any input on if this way is worth it or should I try another way such as all 4 casters (not the prettiest)
Thanks

I have a stratch built and i have castors on mine... I have (4) 3 inch castors (2 are swivel , 2 are fixed). The floors I have are carpeted... Call me lazy, but to me, castors are a MUST... If I need to move it, I unlock brakes and push....

I serouisly doubt that anyone admiring your cab is going to stop and go "Ugggggh , you have wheels..."  If they do...kick em out...Besides remember you are doing it for your back..
