how is it more profitable, for anyone, to do this? That looks surreal.

They were gambling machines as I recall, and locally illegal. I cannot find the original link at the moment.

Notice the square buttons, even on the candy cabs?

There should be a law against people creating threads with the same pics with the title: Horror or Nightmare.  ::)

I think I remember this story as well. I'm pretty sure it was somewhere in China.

So maybe I'm not seeing the horror?  Is there a link somewhere?  I looked at that jukebox style cab, and it was anything but horror.  it was flippin sweet

I think the site has some funky link issues. Here is the picture

Proper horror is real actual cabs being laid to waste:

Notice the dumpster way behind the trees filled with broken cabs.

I think we've gone through this issue before. And there is a good chance those cabs were already beyond repair when dumped. Flood damaged, or just broken, empty shells of their former glory. In that case, it's no biggie. I'm refering to the second photo of course. the first one. Meh. Probably just Mahjong machines, they're revered in Asia doncha know  ;D

No, in the second picture the guy running the place told me they just didn't use them anymore and needed the room in their warehouse. He told me that if I had been there three months prior, he would have delivered all of them to my house for me to have. It was over 200 cabs.

Even if he had CL'd them for $50 each it would have been better than paying his employees to smash the tubes, rip out the wiring, and shove them off the loading dock into a hopper. We're literally talking about modern games and classics destroyed out of laziness.

actually, Magneto is the one who destroyed all those cabs.  Just look at him starring them down at their corpses.

They are made of wood though, his powers would be useless against them! See how he had to hold the rest in the dumpster to stop attacking him! Thank god its made of metal!  :laugh2:

Dude, cot, thats ---smurfing--- insane. If someone would have told me that, I would have barfed. So sad...

At least I rescued a few of the better protected PCBs out of some of the cabinets!

Still got a Centipede, CPS2 base, Golden Axe 2 and Cruisin' USA up for sale/trade somewhere on page 9000 of the B/S/T forum.

Interesting ... I hadn't heard cottmm's story before (or had and had forgotten).

FWIW, before people get all sick about cabinets being destroyed, it is my experience that the people who kill the most cabinets are actual collectors. Even when they try to give them away, they can't and they need to get rid of the 6 foot wooden box that is eating space in the gameroom/garage/dining room.

I haven't killed one yet, but I have a disassembled, non-working Atari Football that I've come close to pitching a couple of times.

Oh but you see, Magneto knows that inside the wood there are traces of metal.  Metal from the axes and saws that cut them.  Residue from the bolts and screws that held them together.  It was just enough for him to toss them in the air and let gravity do the rest.  True story.

Youre reaching for that one good sir.  ;) Still funny though. Maybe he just picked up the dumpster, then dropped it on the poor unsuspecting cabs, then loaded the corpses of his fallen foes into the dumpster, then wanted to gloat as he stood victorious!
