Modify control files for 4 player games
« on: January 03, 2011, 04:33:52 pm »
Hey guys, I have a 2 player arcade machine.   There are some games, NBA Jam for example, that were set up as dedicate 4 player machines.  So my default mame controls make player 2 as player 2 in the game.  This puts both players on the same team, which of course is not cool!   What fun would it be to both pwn the computer?   We need some 1 vs 1 action to make it interesting.   Now, I, of course, understand that I can just remap Player 2's controls to be Player 3 in MAME.  And this is fine on a case by case basis, but it could take some time depending on how many games like that there is.   I was just wondering if there was a way to have the control files automatically generated for all games like this?  Any programs that would do that for me?

Or failing that, is there a list somewhere that would tell me all the games like this?  Some games I've seen have a 2 player version which allows you to pick a character or etc, but not all of them have these alternate versions (again like NBA Jam).

Thanks!
