Mike's Custom MaLa Layouts - Working on NARC,classic DK, and new DK JR

Did this for a buddy and I liked the way it turned out.
Three varients here, thought I would share.
Hope someone likes them, any feedback, ideas, comments, etc.....all welcome.

But if you let me know which one you like, and what size I should be able to re-size the PSD.
Should only take me a few to get it all set up again.

MEGA-MAME Layout 1024 x 768
I've included an image to be used when "No Marquee Is Found."
However I am unsure on how to implement this, perhaps someone can help ?

I'm yet to mess with any sounds in any of my layouts, but it's something I would like to do.
Does anyone know of any good resource site with arcade music ? Classic stuff, like music from DK, Q-Bert, Frogger, etc ?

I believe you would need to put the "Image not found" in the background file itself. If an image is found, it will be placed on top of the part of the background. Then if no image is found, you'll see that part of the background.

That makes a ton of sense. I'll revise that later.
Right now I'm working on a Bad Dudes widscreen layout.

I used the Street Fighter 2 layout, which looks very nice but I'm not crazy about the font you used for the game selection. Also for some reason it is rotating my screen when I shut down.....strange.

Look at your configuration.

There are a few ways MaLa will rotate screen....
ie.
Certain Keys, Game selection etc

Very easy to change font should you need. I just wanted something that looked old school and blocky.
I'm working on compiling my fonts into fonts I feel would be good to use for layouts. Videogame inspired if you will.
Perhaps I'll post the grouping.

*** I've been tweaking this layout a lil bit. I've made the "snap" window much smaller. I've centered all the windows and added an additional character from the bezel.
Just working on picking some good fonts and I'll post a couple of revisions. ***

Revised the "Bad Dudes" layout.
Layout is 1600 x 900
Some modifications were made :

Data East Logo added top left
Additional Character Added
SNAP Window Reduced In Size
Select/Start info added





**** Either of the above images can be added to the LAYOUT. Just rename the image to match. In the above three images the differences are slight. One image has slightly darker coloring to all windows (Snap,Game List, Marquee) , Otherwise two of the three are the same. Lastly one of the images has "Press P1 To Start" and "Use Up & Down To Select Game."

As always feedback is welcome. I'm going to try and add other favorites of mine, all be it the feedback seems minimal.

Sorry the Street Fighter images I have are kinda low quality.
When trying to resize it just didnt look good.

Working on a NARC layout, but need artwork.
Have a semi-complete classic DK (Donkey Kong) but I'm not really happy with it.
Working on yet another WS (Wide Screen) DK JR cab.
4 animations, here is the video. I'm tired, so I made a few mistakes. So I'm going to call it a night, but this should be done this week.

That demo really does inspire me more to add the enhancement options to limit the movements so you don't have to do a full scroll

I think that is a good idea, and would make use of that feature.
I've gone to a few sites to create my own animated gif's, however when using them in MALA I can't scale them.
I tried to make the image the same size as the layout, then use transparency, but I cant get the look I want.
The animated GIF files are always flanked with two black bars, really taking away from the overall look.
Hence why I use the animation and try to make it work.
Today I'm sleepy and forgot to save the PNG files (for animations) with the background color I would be using.
So when all was said and done I saw flaws. I decided tonight I'd tap out.
