check out this deal i got on a sit down cab
« on: August 17, 2003, 07:34:40 pm »
i was at an arcade auction in dallas the other day
i bought a 2 player, dual 25" monitor, sit down cisco heat
for 50 bucks cause it was "dead"
they just didn't plug it in right, it works minus a couple of buttons
now, if i can only figure a way to get it through my doors so it'll be out of the garage
:)

does anyone know where i can get a manual for this?
i've looked with no luck, just figured that i'd ask since i'm posting anywayz
thanx

Looks like everyone did well at the auction except for me. Oh well. They're not gonna stop having auctions any time soon that I'm aware of.

I keep justifying not getting anything with "Well I don't have the room or the money right now."

It's too bad that the Crusin' series isn't very playable in Mame.....Unless they have optimized it...I haven't tried it since it came to Mame.

Oh yeah, Nice grab on the Drivin' cab burger....I wish theese arcade auctions would come out to the western US.....especially AZ

they just didn't plug it in right

Say what?  The owner of the machine didn't know how to plug it in?  If those monitors are in good shape you may have gotten the deal of the century.

Cruisn' USA/ World is pretty playable.  If you have around a 2.4ghz machine...

under clock processor 0 to 20%... Turning off sound also helps... but not as much.

Give it a try

Why waste this on old Mame driving games, when you could put in a pair of Playstations2's running Grand Turismo 3 head-to-head/linked mode.  GT4 is coming out soon also.

You'd have the absolute best driving arcade game ever (better than anything out in the real arcades now)!

2 used PS2 = $250 (normally $125 each on ebay)
2 Grand Turismo 3 games = $20 (normally $5-$15 each on ebay)
2 PS2 racing wheels = $40 (normally $15-20 each on ebay)

Total = $310 (pretty cheap if you ask me)

Much cheaper than buying/upgradeing your PC and playing something like Crusing USA with no sound (just to get a decent frame rate ;D)

I think you ment to say RGB/SCART cables...ya I forgot that.   Also forgot you'd need USB cable/hub to link the two systems.

[mod] oops sorry don't want to turn this into a console thread or it will get moved  ;D ;D [/mod]

I would say use madcatz universal steering wheel.
and TOTALLY agree with dave_k.
I mean the old racers just suck compared to the new once.
Grand turismo 4 is supposed to be as real as "game" could look and feel.

Citzn: LOL, no, it didn't look like that.. probably another reason it went so cheap was that it was converted.. several times :P

Why would anyone pull out perfectly good arcade steering wheels to refit the machines with cheesy playstation junk. That just doesn't make sense.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

I have a 3 Ghz computer with 2-matched 512 sticks of Corsair ram with a 256 MB NVidida card and the frame rate on Cruisin sucks!  It's perfect in the menu modes, but as soon as you get to the garage it totaly slows down!

sorry it took so long to reply, busy workin on the cab :)
it's not the one that the picture was shown for
that's the single version, the one i won was a double
i will post pictures whenever i get it all back together in my place
one monitor is perfect the other just needs a cap kit
the cab itself is in okay shape
i'm gonna be putting a dreamcast in there for crazy taxi
but the main game i purchased it for is mario kart (snes version)
oh yeah, that'll be so fun playin head to head like that
right next to each other using steerin wheels
anywayz
oh yeah, and snake, i'm the same guy, i don't post on here much cause i have issues getting it to allow me to post sometimes
i'll be sure and post pictures of this puppy when she's up and working
later

on another note, is anyone familiar with force feedback, one of the wheels doesn't work right with force feedback and i can't find a copy of the manual so i have NO idea how to get that sucker workin again
if i can't, it's really not that big of a deal

Until Project Gotham Racing 2 comes out, that is  ;D

burger: Why the snes version and not at least the N64 version (better IMHO), or isn't there a new Kart coming out for GC?  the Dreamcast will be nice there are many many nice racing games for DC.

I'm seriously considering putting my dreamcast in my sitdown cab.  Trouble is I only have one dreamcast (and I don't think I will be allowed to buy another) so I have to decide if the racing games are better then the fighting ones.

But do dreamcasts have a link to race someone else?  If you have two of these cabs... you will want them linked.

And whoever mentioned they had a super system and couldn't run Crusin'USA/World.  (1) Enable cheats, Hit ~ key in game.  Move up to cpu 0.  Move left to about 20%.  It's still slowish in the garage, but speeds up as soon as your outside.  On my 2.4 intel I can run it at full speed no sound... 50fps - full speed with.  And about 50fps on my 2.1athlon... Its very playable...  But the controls still suck!  I don't have a steering wheel on either system to play it... and the mouse sucks.

i am hopin to have all 3 mario karts in there whenever the new guy comes out (just gonna hack a psx pad and buy all the converters so that i can just plug and play)
but the snes is by FAR my fav over the n64
now granted, the n64 one is great but the snes version is more difficult
if you're playin on special cup at 150cc and you fall off of a ledge, you are HARD pressed to mount a comeback to a placeable spot no matter how much you play
i also think that the levels are more fun in the snes version
lots of short cuts and such
if anyone knows about driving cabs, like wiring the steering wheel and such, i would LOVE to ask a few questions
thanx
