Button presses registering multiple times
« on: December 21, 2010, 03:27:32 pm »
Unfortunately, I've recently neglected my MAME cabinet, but I ran into a problem when I tried to play it yesterday.  When I pressed a lot of the buttons, they would register as 2-3 button presses.  I have the ground wires daisy chained together and I checked them all and they seem to have solid connections.  But I did notice that a lot of the connectors on the microswitches were dirty and pretty black.  Could this cause a bad connection?  I thought about trying to clean all the switches with some rubbing alcohol, but I wanted to see if anyone had any other thoughts.  My setup is a ultimarc mini-pac connected via PS/2 and all the buttons and joysticks connected with crimp connectors.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Is this two or three diffident button presses (i.e. multiple keys) or just repeating presses?

If it's diffident button presses it probably needs reprogramming. If you get the new IPAC software, just make sure you select the correct board under options (you might even have one of the old legacy boards).
