joy2key and mame? and mess?
« on: December 10, 2010, 04:08:00 am »
I've read that joy2key doesn't work on mame because mame switched to raw inputs, does anyone know if there is a work around or app that can manage this? I know I can directly put the inputs in mame, but I already have my setup working really well on my cab, I just want to add the ability to play via the xbox 360 controllers. The only emulators giving me issues are mame and mess. The buttons work but not the joysticks.. not sure why. I've tested it out on the other emulators and the configuration works fine on all other emus. Thoughts? Suggestions?

If you compile your own copy of MAME, you can modify the input scheme back to non-raw input by changing a single line of code.  I know this will work and it's easy especially if you are already compiling anyway (for hi-score support for instance).  I can elaborate if necessary.

I've heard though that it's not necessary with newer builds of MAME for certain applications.  Guns apparently work without the mod, but I haven't tried to verify.
