I am using to playstation 2 guncon guns on my cabinet. I have to usb and video ports mounted in a panel inside 1 of the coin return areas of my coin door. I keep my guns in the coin box in the bottom portion of my coin door. Then I just pull them out and plug them and when I want to use them. This would not work so well however, if you are actually using your coin slots
I love this idea! I have not thought about using USB guncons for PS2, I might have to invest in running a video port next to my usb ports (for mouse and keyboard if needed) but thats a great idea! Just plug and play when needed. Did you use a splitter for the vid and just extend it? if so does it degrade the quality when split 3 times(2 for guns and 1 for the display) I am interested in making this my next project.
i primarily use my guncons with the ps2 that is in the cabinet, but i have on occasion connected them to the pc as well. ( i have the official namco guns which seem to be more difficult to get working in windows than some of the generic ones). basically, i picked up two panel mount RCA jacks from radio shack and wired both of them to a single cable with a male RCA plug on the other end (essentially making my own Y adapter). my pc is connected to my CRT tv via component video, so i connected the video cable that came with the guncons to the green component video cable, and then my adapter plugs into it. both guns work great with the ps2, i have never tried running more than one on my PC though.
the nice thing is, both guns fit right inside my coin box, along with my reload pedal. I have two small children in my house, so leaving the guns exposed is not an option...this works very well for me. the ports are right there, easy to get to, but they don't stick out like a sore thumb.
here is a pic shortly after i isntalled it...i have since made a new panel, (which cracked, so i need to make another new one)...but this at least gives you an idea of what i'm talking about. my current panel has a port in the other coin return area for my reload pedal. (i only have one pedal right now, since I am pretty much the only person who ever plays gun games). you can see how the two guncons fit nicely in the coin box....the second pic shows the cables plugged in.

i'll try to take a pic of my adapter plate if i can get the kids to cooperate with me tonight
