Doesn't mdf come in 9' sheets?
Anyway, I think they'll get the point even if you flip-flop the dimensions for this.

4 x 8 = 32 sq ft
8 x 4 = 32 sq ft

They are the same!

Normally they are a bit larger than the actual dimensions.  I think my sheets were 4' 1" x 8' 3".

"Two blondes are making a house.  One on one side, and one on the other.

One blond keeps taking nails out of the box, looking at it, and throwing it away.  'What are you doing?' exclaimed the other blond.

'These nails are backwards!  I think they mixed up a bag of nails wrong.'

The other blond sighs, and shakes her head.  'You're the reason why us blonds have a bad name.  Those are for my side of the house!'"

That is the question of the year.

Is there someone that can build the cabinet for you?  I'm not going to be able to sleep if I think of you using power tools.

I'm just teasing you, but seriously, make sure you have the buttons turned so that the front of the button is closest to you.

watch out for those seedy plastics shops, too; sometimes the plexi they sell you is inside-out.

Boy Red, you better stick to gathering nuts for the long winter ahead. Long meaning the amount of time not feet and inches. ;)  Ah don't worry about it. The guys will forget about that post before you know it. Err-a... Maybe.

That reminds me of when I gave a bag of M&M's to my son and told him that He could have all the M's, but I get all the W's.

I know that 8.5" x 11" paper is different then 11" x 8.5" You would think they are exactly the same if you looked at them but the difference is the grain of the paper goes the length of the first number so there is a diiference.....I don't think wood is the same way though :)

Well maybe for something other than MDF.  MDF doesn;t have grain.

According to Lowes (http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=howTo&p=Build/GdPlWd&topic=howToLibrary):

Sheets and/or layers of veneer are typically oriented with their grain at 90 degrees to each other and arranged in an odd number of plies or layers, resulting in a structural panel that has its greatest strength axis in the direction parallel to the face grain (typically the 8' direction). Cross orienting of the veneers also produces a panel with excellent dimensional stability by restraining movement across the grain.

Now, they are referring to plywood here.  MDF is just sawdust and glue so it does not apply there. :)

Give the guy a break.  Some people just don't know these things.  I garuntee that there is stuff that you guys could say on other topics to make people criticize you the way that you have to him.
