Artistic input requested
« on: August 14, 2003, 03:15:24 pm »
I just finished (sort of) one side of my sideart--the bad guys side--It still doesn't seem quite right to me and was looking for any input you guys might have on how to finish it off--I think it needs another famous arcade bad guy or two--Suggestions?  And yes I did steal this idea from some other guy's sideart, who is obviously more talented at photoshop than myself ;D ;)

sorry about that  :-[  I just realized there is a whole artwork section where this post belongs--If I could get a moderator to move it over there--I wouldn't look like such an ass in the main forum ;D  Any input is still aprreciated though ;)

I think it looks pretty good and that there is not much room to add anything.

My personal opinion:

1. it seems like it could use a name.

2. it looks too much like a random hodgepodge of pics, with no coherent design.

3. most of the characters should face the front of the cabinet.

However, I should add that I don't think I could do any better than you  :P

I like the tempest tube idea!  The look i was going for was all the arcade bad dudes on one side exploding from the cabinet on one side and all the good guys on the other--and being an old berserk cab, who better as a bad dude frontman than evil otto?

I agree with the hodge podge comment--which is why i'm here to bring some cohesion--whether they need to be bigger or joined or whatever--dammit Jim I'm an engineer, not an artist! ;D

If anything I'd say spread them out a little.
& having them all face the front would probably look a little better too.

Otherwise, good job!
I'm not a freak!...
Oh wait...
Yes I am...

I would recomend picking out some sort of a color scheme. For example: have one side all characters with warm colors and the other side all cool colors, or maybe the top half has all characters with a main color that contrasts with the main color of all the characters on the bottom half. Do a google search for color theory and you'll seriously be on your way to coming up with designs that are much more pleasing to the eye. Whether he meant it or not, this is really what makes SNAAAKE's side art and cp images look so nice.
