Is this worth it?
« on: November 18, 2010, 07:35:25 pm »
I found a cabinet on craigslist locally.  It is a standup cab and I haven't had a chance to see it in person yet.  It does include some computer (not a big deal if its crap or I probably have enough spare parts to replace it) and a TV for the monitor.  The XArcade dual (edit: had tankstick but it looks like a dual xarcade) is built in and I would plan on building a separate control panel at some point.  He is asking $75 for it.  What kind of questions or things should I look at regarding the TV?  Does this appear to be a good deal or might it be more hassle than its worth?

I also asked him about the front of the cabinet and I guess it is a keyboard tray that can be covered up to appear closed.

Looks like a good deal. If you dont like the xarcade, you can turn around and sell it. The PC may be older but could be good enough to use.

Worst case is you use your own stuff and donate the pc and tv.  Someone would probably pay at least $20 for the tank stick.

Have a buddy who likes gaming?  $75 isnt much money for entry level thats either ready to go or fairly close.

Totally worth it.  The trackball in the tankstick alone is worth about that much.

I don't see any trackball there... according to pics its the one without trackball. Anyhow, I think its a good price.

It's the dual stick, not the tankstick.
You can probably still sell it for enough on fleabay to recoup what you paid for the cab.

I'd jump on it if it isn't gone already.  There is a lot there for $75.

Yeah, if you don't buy it, I might have to find out what city you live in, drive there, and buy it myself.    :)

I'm really considering it, but am planning on building a bartop soon and think I would lose some motivation if I have this sitting waiting for me.  I made sure I just included the pictures, so I didn't have someone undercut me right away.    ;D

Jump on it... I seen mame machine in worse conditions being offered on NC craigslist for 1200 (blasmamy...)

That is a dual x-arcade pictured...

But i agree with everybody...JUMP on it...

besides a brand new dual stick from X-arcade is more than what that cab is listed for...with this...you get the whole kit and kaboodle... :applaud:

I think I waited to long.  Surprised it didn't get scooped up right away.  The guy said he's pretty sure it's sold.  I kept talking myself out of it, because I'm already about to start building a bartop and I have an apartment right now.  It would be a pain and I would have to find a truck to move it and it would be pain to move around.  This way I will have more motivation to work on my bartop instead of putting it off because I already have a cab waiting to be played :).  I'm looking forward to doing the bartop and then possibly building a mini virtual pinball machine.

There is another cab that looks in real good shape for around $1000 like you said garnerb350.

The guy said he's pretty sure it's sold.

Send him a friendly response that incase the buyer doesnt get it...to keep you in mind...

Murphys Law works... Just as soon as the owner thinks that it is sold...that buyer may just back out...

As for me, I wont say something is sold untill I have the money in my hand...

As for me, I wont say something is sold untill I have the money in my hand...

Even THEN I've felt like there's a possibility of being burned. This one time, a buyer asked me if there was a warranty on the Golden Tee I sold him. "How long will you guarantee it works?"

My response: "The end of my driveway."
Man, will my cab EVER be finished?
