Video Ground Wire Question...
« on: November 18, 2010, 05:04:01 pm »
Hi,

I'm just in the middle of gutting my Jamma cabinet for Mame installation. I'm taking out all to be redundant wiring to the Jamma PSU, but there is just 1 wire i'm unsure of.

Arcade Monitor is Hantarex Polo 1 20" and the video cable plugged into the chassis has 5 wires going to the Jamma Harness and 1 ground wire going to the Jamma PSU. Can this ground wire be removed or will I have to connect it somewhere else?

is it earth or ground?
if its the wire bolted to the frame of the chassis then its an earth so it should then go to an earth point in the cab somewhere-but tbh its not required as the polo chassis already has an earth on the mains input plug

a photo will prove it

that's the video ground-it should go to pin 14 on the jamma connector

Ah right, cheers Grant.

Also can the Field ground cable that runs from the Jamma PSU connection marked as 'FG' to the metal frame on the coin door now be discarded?

FG-field ground is earth
legally all metal contact points on a cab should be earthed-but tbh its all a load of old bollocks so you can cut it

you putting a jpac in this cab?

Yea thats the plan, for some reason that black cable definitely went from Chassis to Psu. I'm gonna go through the jamma harness pin-out chart and check them all out now anyway.

most game boards use pin 14 for video ground BUT most chinese multigames etc use just any ground
