Golden Tee Live via MAME or not?

Hi guys

Apologies if this has been answered before but I can't find this particular question anywhere (I have searched).

Is there any emulation (either in MAME or otherwise) of any version of Golden Tee LIVE (ie, with backspin and flyby) available for the PC at all please?

The most recent Golden Tee in Mame is 2k and that came out a few years before Live, so the short answer is no.  I don't think there has been a PC version either.

Nope. Even though the Fore series is now past the 5 year minimum for inclusion, those are still on location and making money. MAME has to stay away from them.

Starting with Fore, the actual arcade versions are pretty much just PC's. ATX power supplies, IDE hard drives, 3Dfx video cards and Linux. By running them with MAME you'd be doing software emulation of the hardware you are already running the software on.

This could quite possibly cause a rift in the space/time continuum and eradicate life as we know it.

This answer is SEMI right.  Golden Tee Fore DID use a hard drive... and a video card... but the motherboard isn't anywhere near a standard PC motherboard... it's more like the Blitz hardware... 3/4 PC and 1/4 arcade dedicated motherboard.  Golden Tee Fore will load in about 10-15 seconds.

Golden Tee LIVE (and Silver Strike Bowling) are 100% PC... they even come in what is essentially a PC case... they have a POST screen and load up some variant of linux.  They take somewhere around a minute (or more depending on the game) to load up.  I know my Silver Strike 2007 takes about 4 minutes to load in total but that includes a couple minutes of waiting for the stupid Sprint Cell connection to time out....which can't be turned off in SSB 2007 for some reason.

As for MAME emulating them... not going to happen any time soon.  Also,  when it DOES happen...  your PC won't be able to run it full speed for many years to come.

I was hoping for Live or Fore aswell (arcade or pc)

BUT... A good golf game ive found to fill the void is Neo Turf Masters.

Golden Tee... the older ones (97, 98, 99, 2K) are all good games as well.

Just load Tigerwoods 2008 PGA on your cab, I loaded it on mine & its awesome (I have a high res screen tho). You can loop the mouse buttons to your jump/fire buttons in order to navigate through the menu

Can't find the buttons for backspin and flyby on MAME......do they exist or not?

The BACKSPIN button was introduced to Golden Tee Golf in 2000 during the launch of Golden Tee FORE! While backspin remains an important feature in Golden Tee LIVE, this game-saving button now has the ability to apply forward ROLL as well! Here's how it works:

To apply Backspin

    * Simply press the SPIN button once prior to beginning your swing to apply backwards spin on the ball.
    * Note, a red arrow will point upward on the ball when Backspin is applied.
    * Swing and watch your ball "back up" when it lands on the green. Please note that one can get backspin when landing in the fairway too…though the effect is very slight.

I  use these to hack the trackball for my Mini-Mame Cabs.

I got mine for $5 at wallmart, and £5 at my local market.

They work similar to the arcade.
