Time Crisis Mini Cab -PS2 Console
« on: October 19, 2010, 08:51:07 am »
This is the LAST one....  So anyway, I completed my last mini for now, it took a whopping 20hrs (maybe less if I didn't listen to music while I worked) or 2 days.  Parts were stocked up for a while and I had to build a new cabinet as the one in that room broke (crap Target stuff).  So as always, the mini caberets all have storage on the bottom and this one is no exception.  This is dead space in a normal cab, so right now, it is 45cm wide and 60cm deep.  It's about 5ft high total.  3 Pull out sliding shelves- wife likes that feature. One piece of Malamine board did the job for wood.  1/8th on the back from Depot (Lowes supplied most of the items).  Build quality is similar as the stock Namco cabs (I took a few trips various arcades to look at the current items).  Panel and marquee are real - hacked up the sign to fit.  Foot pedal took 30 minutes to hack and attach to the gun.  This cab is really fun to play with.  I'm glad it got done- under $200 for the total build (PS2 was free, old one that I "fixed").

This game rocks when it has the pedal. How big is the screen (looks a bit small) or maybe it's the angle of the picture.

14 inch tube.  Looks small because of the letter box playing on the intro movie.  I intentionally did not put a 19inch as it would be too big for that cabinet.  It's setup it similar to a gun range (looking down at the targets 25ft+).  About a foot from the glass to the firing location.   Also arcade cabs (non delux) tend to use 20+inches with bigger cabinets.  I don't have the room to put it there.  I was going for a small intimate playfield- the player can stand in front and not hit anyone behind.  I think the bullet holes are coming off..

Love these mini-cab ideas.

Do you have any more pictures?  I'd love to see how the playing angle looks.

Good job!  :applaud:

The big cross in the background seems kinda weird juxtaposed with an extremely violent game.

 :-\

Hmm.  You must have missed Boondock Saints.

 Yeah that cross was given to my wife in Japan (the person can't see, she's kinda blind) at her church.  I don't like it- it's BIG...so covering it up wasn't an issue.  I can't take it down, she gets alittle upset if I ask.  My camera broke actually, so I don't have another pic to post right now....

I took off the bullet holes too! :P
